Uttarakhand Destination Wedding Cost 2026: Mussoorie, Nainital, Dehradun and the Hills, Priced
In short
A two-day destination wedding in Uttarakhand for 200 guests costs about ₹30 lakh to 1.2 crore before jewellery and outfits. Bhimtal and Nainital lakeside resorts sit at ₹30–50 lakh, JW Marriott Mussoorie and the Dehradun five-stars at ₹50–90 lakh, and the Savoy or Hyatt Regency Dehradun with premium decor at ₹90 lakh to 1.2 crore.
Uttarakhand is the hill wedding Delhi can drive to, and it prices in three bands for 200 guests over two days. Lakeside three and four-star resorts around Bhimtal and Nainital, with decor and vendors added, land at ₹30–50 lakh. JW Marriott Mussoorie and the five-star resorts of Dehradun sit at ₹50–90 lakh. The Savoy in Mussoorie or the Hyatt Regency in Dehradun, with premium decor and entertainment, reach ₹90 lakh to 1.2 crore. All figures exclude jewellery and outfits and carry 18 percent GST on hotel lines. For reference, a 2025-26 industry survey put the average Indian destination wedding at about ₹58 lakh, which is the middle of this state's range.
The range for 200 guests
Mussoorie is the most expensive hill in the state, and the most dramatic. Welcomhotel The Savoy publishes ₹35 lakh a day for its 78 rooms, so two days is about ₹70 lakh before decor. JW Marriott Walnut Grove has 115 rooms and hosts 140–500 guests; its directory listing shows ₹2,500 a plate while planner guides quote ₹3,500–6,500, so the two sources disagree. Those guides place a 150–250 guest, two-day wedding there at ₹50–90 lakh, with a room block of ₹22–35 lakh, decor of ₹15–30 lakh and alcohol of ₹5–12 lakh. Sterling Mussoorie, at ₹18 lakh a day for 100 of its 122 rooms, and the Oasis at ₹13 lakh a day for 53 rooms, are the value buyouts.
Mussoorie
Bhimtal and Nainital are the budget end, and the lakes photograph beautifully. Hotel Harshikhar in Bhimtal advertises two days of celebrations from ₹45 lakh plus taxes, with 50 rooms and plates at ₹2,000–2,500. Country Inn Nature Resort lists ₹1,800–2,000 a plate across 54 rooms for 250–300 guests, and Fortune Lakeview has 63 rooms. Around Nainital, plates run ₹800–3,000: Fern Hillside at ₹900–1,150, Sea Hawk at ₹800–900 and the Naini Retreat at about ₹2,900. Rooms cost ₹5,000–9,000 a night. The catch is inventory: most properties hold 20–70 keys, so 200 guests nearly always means booking two resorts and running coaches between them.
Bhimtal and Nainital
Dehradun is the valley alternative, warmer in winter and closest to the airport. Planner guides quote Taj Mussoorie Foothills, with 115 rooms, at ₹90 lakh to 1.25 crore for 250 guests over three days and two nights, and Le Meridien Dehradun, with 104 rooms, at ₹80 lakh to 1 crore on the same brief. Scaled to 200 guests over two days, that is roughly ₹65 lakh to 1 crore, though the scaling is ours, not theirs. Hyatt Regency Dehradun has 263 keys, holds 550 guests and is quoted at ₹1.4–1.8 crore for three days. The Aralia publishes ₹12.5 lakh a day for 54 rooms, the valley's buyout bargain.
Dehradun
Two more Uttarakhand destinations have their own guides on this site. Jim Corbett reads 15–20 percent cheaper than Mussoorie for the same brief: planner guides band a 150-guest, two-night wedding at ₹35–55 lakh planned, ₹55–95 lakh premium and ₹95 lakh to 1.75 crore for a buyout, against Mussoorie's ₹42–65 lakh, ₹65 lakh to 1.2 crore and ₹1.1–2.25 crore. Rishikesh's mainstream market runs ₹10–45 lakh, with its two five-star resorts, Taj Rishikesh and the Westin Himalayas, priced far above it and a Westin buyout near ₹3 crore. For a temple wedding of 20–50 guests, Triyuginarayan is a world of its own at ₹1.5–15 lakh.
Corbett, Rishikesh and the temple
The drive is the point. Dehradun is about 250 km from Delhi, five to six hours by road, and Jolly Grant Airport has daily flights from Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. Mussoorie is another 35 km and 1–1.5 hours of hairpin bends above Dehradun; from the airport allow 1.5–2.5 hours. Bhimtal and Nainital are roughly 300 km and six to seven hours from Delhi, or a short drive from Pantnagar airport and Kathgodam station. Corbett is about six hours. Large coaches struggle on the Mussoorie and Nainital climbs, so budget smaller vehicles for the last stretch, and expect hill logistics and a weather backup to add ₹3–6 lakh.

The drive, the season and the rooms
Season matters more here than on the plains. October and November, and March and April, are the best windows: clear skies, cool evenings, lawns in use. The monsoon, July to September, brings landslides and road closures and should be avoided for a hill wedding. Mussoorie in December and January is genuinely cold, often near freezing at night, so winter dates there mean heated marquees and indoor functions. Dehradun, Rishikesh and Corbett in the valley stay milder and take the big winter wedding dates comfortably. The peak November and December weeks still fill the five-stars, so a hill wedding on those dates needs the earliest booking you can manage.
Room counts, not price lists, decide a hill wedding. With 200 guests you need roughly 90–110 rooms for two nights; only JW Marriott Mussoorie, Sterling Mussoorie, the Dehradun five-stars and the bigger Corbett resorts hold that under one roof. Everywhere else you split the party, usually with the immediate families at the main venue and friends at a second property ten minutes away, with shuttles on a timetable. Ask every venue for its exact key count, its lawn capacity in a December chill and its wet-weather room, and get the per-plate guarantee, the overtime rate and the cancellation ladder in writing before any advance is paid.
