Which country is the cheapest for an Indian destination wedding?
From the rate cards resorts sent our team for 200 guests, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Cambodia come out cheapest: two days of rooms and food from about ₹30 lakh lakh in Vietnam and ₹50 lakh lakh in Thailand, short flights and free or e-visa entry. Bali's venues are cheap but the flights double the bill. Singapore, Italy, Turkey's resorts, the UAE and Mauritius are the dearest.
What is the best country for an Indian wedding abroad?
Thailand for choice and ease: the most Indian-ready hotels, visa-free entry, four-hour flights and the most searched destination abroad. Dubai for polish and three-hour flights at a higher price. Sri Lanka and Mauritius if the marriage itself must be legal abroad. Vietnam if the budget leads. Italy for a villa wedding with a Schengen visa and a season that runs April to October.

Is a wedding abroad cheaper than one in India?
At the venue, Vietnam, Thailand and Bali can undercut Udaipur's palace hotels, which run ₹1.6–3.5 crore for two days. Add flights for every guest and the gap closes: a 200-guest Thai wedding pays ₹60–70 lakh in airfares that a Goa or Jaipur wedding never does. Abroad wins on price only with a short guest list.
Can two Indians legally marry abroad?
In Sri Lanka, Mauritius and Italy, yes, at the registrar or town hall for small official fees. In Thailand, Bali, Vietnam, the Gulf and Turkey the wedding is a ceremony: residency, religion or nationality rules stand in the way, and the marriage is registered in India afterwards under the Hindu Marriage Act or the Special Marriage Act. Abu Dhabi's civil court is the Gulf exception.
What does an Indian family pay on top, from India?
Two percent tax collected at source on an overseas tour package since April 2026, refundable against income tax; up to 20% above ₹10 lakh a person if the family wires the resort directly. GST on the planner's fee is charged in India, at 5% billed as a tour package or 18% as event services. Flying a 10–15 person Indian crew of photographers, décor and makeup adds ₹10–45 lakh depending on the country.
