Eleven places worth the journey. When to go, how to get there.
In short
A destination wedding is held away from home, so most guests travel and stay. In India, Goa, Udaipur and Jaipur lead most lists, then Jodhpur, Rishikesh and Mussoorie. Go between October and February for Rajasthan and Goa, and avoid the monsoon outdoors.
The most-listed wedding destination in India. Sunset pheras, long lunches, sangeets by the sea.
Palaces on Lake Pichola, boat arrivals, mandaps at dusk. The grandest stage in India, priced to match.
Pink-city palaces and hill forts, a short flight or drive from Delhi.
The blue city's forts and palaces, with evenings already pleasant by late September.
Pheras by the Ganga with the Himalaya behind. Quieter, spiritual, close to Delhi.
The fastest-growing temple wedding in India. Intimate by necessity, sacred by choice.
Top of the 2026 mountain-wedding lists. Cool air, valley views, a long drive up.
India's forest wedding, a drive from Delhi NCR rather than a flight.
Backwaters, coconut palms and a gentler pace. Keep outdoor functions out of the monsoon.
Clear water and white sand. Flight plus ferry keeps the guest list small.
A wedding with the Taj Mahal in the window, a drive down the Yamuna Expressway.
Abroad, we plan Indian weddings in Dubai and Thailand. Seasons and airports compiled from WedMeGood, WeddingSutra, Vogue India, Condé Nast Traveller India and Times of India lists, checked October 2026.
Good to know
A wedding held away from where the couple and their families live, so most guests travel and stay for it. In India that usually means two or three days of functions at one resort, palace or city, with the hosts arranging rooms and transfers.
Goa, Udaipur and Jaipur appear on the most lists, followed by Jodhpur, Rishikesh and Mussoorie. Jim Corbett, Kerala, the Andaman Islands and Agra suit smaller or more unusual weddings, and Triyuginarayan has become the leading temple wedding destination.
October to February for Rajasthan, Goa and most of the plains. March to June and September to November for the hills, including Rishikesh and Mussoorie. Avoid the monsoon, roughly June to September, for anything outdoors or by the sea.
As a working range across our weddings, roughly ₹55,000 per guest all-in for Goa and ₹68,000 for Udaipur, covering venue, food, stay, décor, hospitality and production. GST is usually extra, and dates and venue tier move the number.
For peak season, November to February, start 14 to 18 months out. The best venues book 12 to 16 months ahead, and room blocks need to be contracted early because peak-season occupancy runs very high.
