India and south-east Asia
Within India: Goa starts at about ₹18,000 a couple for a short package, Kerala around ₹1–1.2 lakh for five nights and the Andamans much the same. South-east Asia is the next step up and often cheaper than a week in a good Indian resort: Thailand ₹70,000 to ₹1.1 lakh, Bali ₹40,000 to ₹90,000, both usually before flights and with the visa either free or on arrival.
Dubai, the Maldives and Europe
The Gulf and the islands: Dubai packages run ₹1.4 to ₹1.6 lakh a couple for four or five nights with the visa handled. The Maldives is the big jump: operators' pages start around ₹1.1 lakh a person before flights, with named resorts at ₹1.15 to ₹1.77 lakh a person, so ₹2.2 to ₹3.5 lakh for two is honest, and overwater villas go well beyond it. Europe starts at ₹2.8 to ₹3.1 lakh a couple for an escorted tour, more for a private one.

What a private honeymoon really costs is a different number. That is the honest comparison for a couple who want a balcony cabin and a pool villa rather than a package hotel.
What packages leave out
Add the lines packages leave out: flights where the page says ex-flights, visas (Thailand free, Bali on arrival, the Maldives on arrival, Dubai AED 100–200, Schengen €90), travel insurance, and the 2 percent tax collected at source on overseas packages since April 2026, which you claim back against your income tax. Book the honeymoon with the wedding, not after it: peak wedding months are peak travel months too.
